Committed to Sustainability

I originally trained as a graphic designer working in London and establishing a successful practice in Sussex.  In 2001 I returned to full time higher education, completing an HND in 3D Design Craft at Northbrook College, Sussex and winning the BCFA Future of Design Award at the New Designers show, Islington in July 2003.

I work with light, water, glass, metal, wood, stone, concrete and plastics to create fountains, water features, lighting, furniture, artwork and sculptural pieces, featuring recycled and re-used materials. Inspiration comes from the exploration of mythological and Jungian themes as well as from the materials themselves. Objects are created in a spontaneous way letting designs grow from concept to realisation, finding forms which are beautiful and natural to the material.

I build on a sound knowledge and experience of traditional craft skills and working methods, learning from the way in which ancient craftsmen worked and related to their world - seeing society, art, craft and spirit as one - inseparable, I strive to remake these connections. But I am not trying to re-create the past, giving equal attention to exploring new technologies and the innovative use of materials, while continuing to work in a responsible and sustainable way.
